As I scrolled through my blog feed this morning, I was delighted to see Youyou and Rahul's gorgeous wedding up on Style Me Pretty. When I met Youyou for her trial, she told me all about their Lord of The Rings meets Midsummer Night's Dream inspiration. And that there would be an instrumental version of "Sweet Child of Mine" in there somewhere. WHAT?! Clearly we were meant to me. Okay, actually her and Rahul were meant to be. But obviously I was so excited to get to do her makeup on such an awesome day. We chose to create an ethereal, glowing look that was both natural but romantic with touches of lavender and slate grey on her eyes. Head to Style Me Pretty to see more of their big day.
Happy Halloween! A Last Minute Costume with Hair and Makeup!
There are two kinds of people when it comes to dressing up for Halloween. Those who plan their costume ahead of time, and those who wait until the last minute and then panic. I used to be the former. Now I am the latter. I don't know what happened. I tend to just lean on makeup to be my costume if I do anything at all.
If you follow Opening Ceremony's blog, you probably saw their post called "Hairstyle File: Get Your Freak On With Bumble and Bumble." I got to work on this super fun shoot over at the Bumble and Bumble salon/studio/university/mecca/palace/wonderland here in NYC and add some complimenting makeup looks to hairstylist Misha Golebiewski awesome your-hair-can-be-your-costume styles. Last minute costume? No problem. Opening Ceremony and Bumble and Bumble have you covered. The Bride of Frankenstein look is calling my name. Head to their blog to see all the juicy details and how to create these looks yourself.
Lately Loving...Trader Joe's Pumpkin Body Butter
I am usually obsessed with Trader Joe's Coconut Body Butter. So recently when I popped in to the store for some groceries and saw this magic tub of awesome, I tossed it in the cart, no questions asked. Holy great pumpkin Charlie Brown! Shea butter. Pumpkin seed oil. Grapefruit extract. Orange peel extract. Rosemary, chamomile, lemon, ginger, guava, kukui, vitamin E....bits, bobs, and extracts galore. Sweet and fruity but warm and pumpkin-y. And it is thick. Like thick, thick. So I like to mix it with some Bliss Naked Body Butter to make it easier to spread around. I'm a human. Not a toasty bagel, geez! Anyway, if you can snag one of these do it. This is the stuff autumn dreams are made of.
